Selecting a Topic

  • global warming
  • kinetic bombs
  • animal extinction/ endangered species
  • is driving vehicles off road bad for the environment
  • age limits on alcohol
  • free weights vs. physical activities
  • types of diets
Last year I attended Wenatchee Valley College. I took a class about study skills, and my professor thought it would be great if we learned how to write research papers. The catch was that we never got to pick a topic. I was assigned beards ironically, due to the fact I have one. Its hard enough to write a research paper, but then having to add hair to the chin of it. I though oh my god why... why do I have to do this. Of course I did not making the best choices I put it off and waited and waited till the last week, and said well I guess I could make this interesting. I went on the data base we used at our college and there was only a hand full of articles that included beards. I did research on the internet for other sites that were acceptable for college. After about 2-3 days I finally had found enough credible resources to put some sort of paper together about a beard. The sad part was in the end I got a B+ and actually ended up enjoying writing this paper. The only thing I might have done differently was tried starting sooner.
